    Declaration of Commitment     Members and Organization     Founding Signatories

    (This page has a CYBER TALK-BACK instant feedback box at the bottom.)

    Declaration of Commitment

    CONSCIOUS that appropriate application of the principle of synergism would provide both the basis and the impetus for human development and harmony, for a well-rounded and sustained upliftment of the quality of life of the people;

    FIRMLY ASSERTING that synergism is the very soul of every full-fledged cooperative and that this principle breathes dynamic life in the Seven Basic Principles of Cooperativism as established by the International Cooperative Alliance;

    CONVINCED that a strong cooperative movement in the Philippines would be in the best position to educate and help consolidate the rest of society towards a fuller consciousness and application of the principle of synergism; and

    FULLY AWARE that at present there has been no adequate education on, much less conscious application of, this principle among the Filipino people as a whole and even among the ranks of the cooperatives,

    WE THEREFORE sign our names, as cooperative formations, individual cooperators, and advocates of strong cooperativism, in committing to synergize our organizational and individual efforts through a broad organization to be known as "Advocates of Cooperative Education on Synergism" or "ACES", to actively advocate, pursue and facilitate a nationwide campaign for synergism-focused education for cooperatives and, on the basis of the impact of such campaign, help pursue a synergism-focused education campaign for the people as a whole, both as spearheaded by the synergism-oriented SanibLakas ng Taongbayan Foundation.

    WE COMMIT, specifically, to form cross-cooperative chapters of ACES in regions, provinces, and cities/municipalities, for broad teamwork in soliciting organizational resolutions for cooperative education on synergism, in initiating and/or facilitating basic and advanced seminars for the same, in preparing and circulating publications for the same, and in recruiting more members.

    NOTES ON MEMBERSHIP AND ORGANIZATION:

    1. Members of this organization shall be those who are part of the SanibLakas ng Taongbayan Foundation's Program Committee for Cooperative Education on Synergism (C.E.S.), graduates of C.E.S. Basic Seminars, and other persons who shall have studied the basic C.E.S. readings whether in the pamphlet or in the website, or had the principle of synergism and its application to cooperativism clearly explained to them.

    2. This is designed to be an organizationally-loose but synergetically-active campaign network mainly for teamwork, experiences-sharing, and coordination of on-site members and teams, for the three enumerated tasks in promoting C.E.S. activities ("R.S.P."-- resolutions, seminars and publications) where the expected output from each individual or organizational member is to be based on the latter's actual predispositions, circumstances and capabilities.

    3. The term "cross-cooperative" refers to chapters, especially those with geographically large coverage, whose level of development is such that the members come from various cooperative formations not affiliated with a common apex, but are strongly united and active in promoting the C.E.S, campaign.

    4. All members shall be represented by delegations by the time the ACES National Congress is to be convened during the Cooperative Month next year (November 2001). In the meantime, the members of the SanibLakas C.E.S. Program Committee will function as the first ACES Executive Board, they being the lead founders.
